2020 Volkswagen Tiguan: Designed to be without limits, or equals

Volkswagen is relatively new to the SUV game but all must admit that in a very short time, offerings such as the new 3-row Atlas, dynamic and all-new Atlas Sport Cross as well as the new 2020 Tiguan have set the bar in their respective segments.

The new 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the very rare compact SUVs to offer an optional third row of seats for all sorts of family, and extended family activities. When the third row is not in use, the Tiguan’s trunk can hold an impressive 1,065 litres of gear. This volume is equal or greater than some midsize SUVs! Before spending money on a seemingly larger but considerably more expensive SUV, the Tiguan is worth a look.

But there’s much more than simply storage and loads of space for everything life can throw at us. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI 4-cylinder which delivers 184-horsepower and a generous helping of torque to the tune of 221 lb.-ft. Exclusively mated to a smooth and efficient 8-speed automatic transmission, the Tiguan can be equal parts sporty and frugal. With the optional 4MOTION AWD system, the Tiguan will consume as little as 8.1L/100km on the highway. What’s more, its sporty-tuned chassis will provide pure driving fun.

We’re not quite done yet. Included in the entry-level Trendline trim is a 6.5-inch screen,
App-Connect (Android Auto/Apple CarPlay/MirrorLink), front and rear express up and down power widows (once you try these, it’s impossible to go back), and much more.

Opting for any trim entitles the driver to a premium looking and feeling SUV. The Tiguan’s elegant yet muscular bodylines are unique and unmistakably Volkswagen. The cabin is conveniently and ergonomically laid out for all passengers to feel right at home. Upper trims bring with them luxury features typically reserved for far pricier vehicles. The available Volkswagen Digital Cockpit is one such example, so is Nappa leather-covered seats, and so on.

Those who crave the sportiest of elements will select the available R-Line package which includes 19-inch wheels, a sport steering wheel, sportier and more aggressive bumpers and unique grille treatment.

The new 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan is equal parts family hauler, premium SUV and a pleasure to drive. It also has no equal.
